On January 13, 2012, sustainability staff submitted updated greenhouse gas emissions inventories for fiscal years 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. The numbers look a little different from previous inventories due to the use of the Clean Air-Cool Planet calculator and because of the availability of additional data. Illinois is making great progress on emissions reductions with a ~15% reduction in the last four years
OS staff reviewed and edited Illinois’ entry in the Princeton Review’s Guide to Green Schools. In the future, the Princeton Review, the Sierra Club and the Sustainable Endowments Institute will extract data from a Campus Sustainability Data Collector, which is very similar to AASHE’s STARS reporting system, and very extensive.
Over 50 staff members from regional communities gathered in the City of Champaign Council Chambers today to hear presentations about the proposed Sole Source Aquifer designation for the Mahomet Aquifer. The new URL for these efforts was shared: www.cleanwater4midIl.org.
