Solar Panels on Everitt Lab (Cancelled)

Description

Today students use this array for research, labs, and data collection:

There are eight photovoltaic (PV) panels on the roof of Everitt Laboratory used by the Power and Energy System Group to conduct research. Each panel is wired through the building and directly to the Advanced Power Electronics Laboratory to provide direct, easy access for students to conduct experiments. Some experiments involve collecting data on how the electrical characteristics of the PV react to realistic weather conditions. Others focus on power electronics circuitry and control techniques that better optimize PV power production and protect the system against faults.

Background

ECE graduate student Grant Pitel's group project was installing solar panels on Everitt Lab rooftop. For the complete story of their original installation see link below titled "Students recycle to study renewable energy."
