Fellow waste warriors,

UO does cool things when it comes to the material management system. They did one of the first campus waste audits back in the early 90s and have since grown into a power house in recycling and materials management. They have a new training video. Its 50mins long, and yes that is extremely excessive. But it is a great cheat sheet to evaluate our current state and where we could go.

It was like any other normal morning in Oregon for Clifford Barclay, a new student recycler at University of Oregon’s Zero Waste Program. When he arrives at work he meets Alex Fallenstedt, a current student recycler, who takes Cliff along a typical route at Zero Waste Program. Alex shows Cliff the numerous responsibilities of a student recycler, from collecting recyclables to sorting compost, all while mentoring him on what it means to be zero waste. Cliff, now forever changed, adopts this ideology upon arriving at home.

This video serves to greet new recycling students at our program by showing them what a typical day ensues. From the numerous buildings we service, to the atmosphere of student employed program. It was made possible by the crew at the UO Zero Waste Program. Thank you!
