Use Electric Vehicles (EV) on Campus (Ongoing)

Project History

Description

Electric vehicles (EVs) are a focus of the University’s continuing efforts in reducing fossil fuel emissions. Petroleum-based vehicles are powered exclusively by fossil fuels, while electric vehicles are powered by a range of energy sources including fossil fuels, nuclear power, solar power, and wind power. Golf carts are one type of electric vehicle the University has been using on campus.

To evaluate the options for transitioning to EVs for campus, Hursh Hazari worked with F&S staff to review vehicles that are permanently assigned to departments on campus.  He completed a summary report, and met with F&S and sustainability staff to consider next steps. This is a project that would benefit from a research project considering options for sustainable change without undue financial burden on the campus operations.
